Meet the Director Julie Widdowson

Julie is a Chartered Architect with over 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors of the industry. Her extensive career has provided her with a diverse and well-rounded perspective across a wide range of design disciplines, which led her to establish her own practice, Severn Architects, in 2020.

Julie maintains a strong commitment to sustainable design, green technologies, and energy efficiency—principles that remain at the core of her design philosophy. Utilizing the latest architectural software and technologies, she places great importance on the value of thoughtful, responsible, and enduring design, and its ability to create spaces that are both meaningful and environmentally conscious.

Outside of the office, Julie is a keen mountaineer, having climbed in Africa and the Himalayas, she can now be found mostly wandering around the Peak District or the hills of Scotland ticking Munros. A runner and cyclist, she still enters challenging trail runs for fun and to keep fit.
